Quaker is our big, sweet Bloodhound that was found wandering around and brought to us by the Town of Saranac Dog Control officer. We expected someone to call missing this good old boy, but sadly no one ever did. We believe he is a purebred Bloodhound, and is ~10 years old. He is a large dog, and weighs 92lbs. If you have never had the chance of meeting a Bloodhound, you should. Quaker is a great example of how friendly, goofy and sweet they are. He loves EVERYBODY, including other dogs. We have tested him around our shelter cats, and he seems to know that it is best to give a cat space and not get swatted. Quaker also has that signature loud bay that Hound lovers can't get enough of. When he is excited, he lets us all know. For being an older dog, he is still very energetic and active. He enjoys going for walks with the staff and volunteers, pulls a bit to get to sniffing out good stuff outdoors. He is housebroken and clean in his kennel. Overall, he's an easy keeper as long as your keep him from wandering away like hounds tend to do sometimes. Quaker had an exam at the vet's office, and it turns out he has Lyme disease, which we have started treatment of for 30days. He also has an ear infection in one of his big droopy ears, but with daily cleaning/treatments it is much better. Other than a few fatty lumps and bumps on his body, Quaker is healthy and happy to just be around people. His heart sounds good, he is active and loving life. All he needs now is a new home that will love him no matter what and take good care of him.
