Domestic Long Hair - Buff - Ben - Large - Senior - Male - Cat
Ben is our big & furry Buff/Tan colored long haired senior cat that was turned in with his feline friend Jillian on 11/15/13. Sadly his owner passed away, and no one else in the family could take Ben and Jillian into their home, so they had to surrender the 2 cats. Ben is 8 years old, and he would like to find a quiet home where he will feel loved and safe. Ben arrived weighing over 20lbs, but has lost a few pounds, and has also allowed us to groom and brush him (he came in with a lot of matting). He feels much better now! When he first arrived, Ben was very nervous but he quickly learned that our shelter staff only wanted to take care of him and make him feel comfortable. Once he knew that Jillian was at the shelter with him, that helped him come out of his shell and now he likes to run around and explore. He does get a little nervous when there is some commotion, and he runs back to where he feels safe...usually our shelter's bathroom or the visiting room. He has been tolerant of the other shelter cats, and avoids the young and active ones that like to chase each other around. He has not ever lived with a dog, but he has encountered a couple of our mellow, cat-friendly shelter dogs and he just runs away if he gets too nervous. He would be happiest if he did not have to live with a dog. We are hoping to find a home for both Ben and Jillian together if possible, as the two are bonded. Ben has been neutered, vaccinated and will also be microchipped prior to adoption. If you want to find out more about Ben (and possibly Jillian) please contact us or stop by and ask to meet them.
