Cheeko is our super friendly & playful 2-3 year old Pitbull Terrier that was brought in to our Humane Society after he was found running loose in the Town of Saranac. The Town's Dog Control Officer transported him after someone found him and brought him to the DCO's house. No one contacted us to report his missing, so he is now up for adoption. In our care, Cheeko has been very well behaved and easy to take care of. He is clean in his kennel and housebroken. He likes going for walks, but he is a strong boy and does pull a bit. He also loves to run around and play with our staff and volunteers in our outdoor fenced yards. He is very outgoing, and has done well around all of our adult and junior volunteers over the age of 10 years (we are not sure if he has been around younger kids). Cheeko has been around our other shelter dogs, and he does well with other friendly & playful type dogs. He has been interested in chasing our shelter cats, so we feel he will need a home without cats or small animals. He is very smart and has learned a lot of commands & tricks (sit, down, and he sits pretty!) He is a fun dog and would be a great hiking/walking buddy for an active person or family. We have had Cheeko neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He tested positive for Lyme Disease, but he does not have any clinical symptoms of the disease. We are currently treating him with prescribed Doxycycline. This antibiotic treatment will help him fight the disease. He is otherwise a very healthy, active and happy dog.
